Treasurer and Past President
DJ Towne has been involved with the STC San Diego council for about 6 years. She has a B.S. degree in Management Information Systems from SDSU. She has been a technical writer for about 9 years, but also has a broad background in IT, having worked in quality assurance, customer implementations, and knowledge-based technical support. Having served as V.P. of Employment, V.P. of Finance, and as President, she feels her dedication to our association speaks for itself.
DJ believes that, with the right volunteers, the local STC chapter can continue to provide opportunities for mentoring, professional development, professional networking, and continuing education.

I am semi-retired. Most recently, I was an information architect at Teradata. I’ve also worked as a technical communications manager, writer, program manager, and software designer. I served STC two years as chapter president, four years as VP of Finance (aka Treasurer), and most recently as VP for Professional Development. My goals as Employment VP are to publicize locations of job-listing, connect job-hunters and placement firms and contracting shops, and provide information for successful job searches, resumes, and interviews.
Lori Meyer, an STC Associate Fellow, is beginning her second year as VP of membership for STC San Diego. During her years as an STC member, she has served many STC communities in a variety of roles, including chapter and SIG secretary, webmaster, employment manager, and conference co-chair. In addition to her work for STC San Diego, she is currently serving as membership manager for the Rochester Chapter, director-at-large for the Carolina chapter, secretary of the Instructional Design and Learning SIG, sponsorship coordinator for the Northeast Ohio chapter, and social media volunteer for the Consulting and Independent Contracting SIG. She just finished a year’s term as President of the East Bay Chapter, and is a former co-manager of the Technical Editing SIG, where she created a SIG awards program that is now in its second year.
Lori is a technical communicator and curriculum developer in Northern California, where she develops and edits software documentation and training. Lori feels great excitement about the potential of social media and mobile technology to build on our work as technical communicators. She is looking forward to continued service to the San Diego Chapter.
