Calling All Closet Managing Editors

In every STC member's body, I believe there's an inner managing editor just dying to get out.

I found mine about a year ago. Actually, I stumbled over her. My ego had been yipping because my humor column wasn't appearing on the Signature newsletter. Then I discovered that the newsletter itself wasn't appearing either. That's when my dormant inner editor roused herself, surreptitiously wrote San Diego chapter president Lance-Robert about the newsletter's status, and volunteered to manage the whole darn thing. Next thing I knew, I was a VP on the Council and surrounded by hard working, enthusiastic STC members who were thrilled that I'd brought the newsletter back to life. All because my ego felt neglected.

And now my inner editor has become so enthralled with the job of running a newsletter that she's managing a second one for the Escondido Humane Society. And that's why, with September and a new chapter season on the horizon, it's time for me to stir the inner editor of another member, train this person in my evil editorial ways, and pass the Signature torch-or, in this case, the free copy of Dreamweaver required to publish the issues each month.

Anyone interested?

It's work; that's no lie. But if you're organized and you like seeing tangible results for your efforts (which describes almost every STC member I know), you'll find a lot of satisfaction waiting for you amongst the e-mail messages, articles, and html code you'll herd through cyberspace each month.

Please consider it. Signature has a great staff. Assistant editor Linda Harrison is enthusiastic and detail-oriented; our columnists are witty (Hi, Deborah) and committed (Hey, Gail). This is the time to meet the staff and the STC chapter council, learn the process of putting an issue together, and build your own ideas of how to do things, all under the tutelage of yours truly.

Write me. My inner editor is waiting to hear from you.

See you next month!
