San Diego Chapter Elections |
| The 2005-2006 chapter year is rapidly coming
to an end, and if you read my President's Podium in last month's Signature,
you already know that many of the council positions for the 2006-2007
chapter year are up for grabs. As of this writing, we have volunteers
for the following positions: president, professional development, employment,
membership, website, and treasurer, but we still need people for programs
and the newsletter.
Although we have some volunteers, none of these assignments is carved in stone, so feel free to apply for any position you might be interested in. For the first time in many moons, the San Diego Chapter is holding an online election, in which all chapter members will be able to vote for next year's council. We'll even have one or two paragraph statements from each candidate so that you can get to know them, if you do not know them already. For those positions in which only one candidate is running, voters will be able to express their approval or disapproval of that candidate. If a candidate should receive more disapprovals than approvals, that candidate will not be on next year's council.
I will send a message out to the chapter membership as soon as the online voting is available in May. To participate, you will need to know your five- or six-digit STC membership number, which is typically found on the mailing labels of Intercom and Technical Communication. If you do not know your STC membership number, please contact our VP of Membership, John White, for assistance. His email is membership@stc-sd.org.
If you are interested in any council position and have questions about it, or want to let us know that you're interested, please contact the person who is currently in that position. You can find their email alias on the chapter contacts page (http://www.stc-sd.org/about-us/about-us_contacts.htm).
To all those who have volunteered so far, and those who have yet to
volunteer, I thank you for taking an active role in your chapter. And
I thank all of you in advance for voting in next month's online election.
