I've been so pleased with two new FrameMaker plug-ins that I have been
telling every FrameMaker user I know about them. Please pass this information
along to others if you think they would also find this helpful.
The first plug-in is called Change Star, and it's available from Zenserve
(http://www.zenserve.co.uk)
for $15 USD. It gives you complete control over FrameMaker's built-in
change bar dialog box, so that you can:
- Search for the next or previous change bars in a document
- Remove change bars from an entire document, or just a selection
- Manually add change bars to a line, paragraph, or selection
- Add double underlines to a changed section (not sure why anyone
would want to, but hey, whatever...).
Below is a screen shot, which you can access from the Zenserve menu
that gets added to the standard FrameMaker commands, or by pressing
Escape z c s.

Installation is easy. Just copy the DLL file into your \fminit\plugins
directory and restart FrameMaker.
Also available for free from Zenserve is Text Store, which lets you
store and format long pieces of boilerplate text like variables to be
added wherever you like. The difference is that the text is available
for ALL your documents, not just those documents with their variables
defined. It is also accessed from the Zenserve menu, or by pressing
Escape z t s.
