STC San Diego earned a Pacesetter Award for 2017 activity!
Citation
For your innovative use of Facebook Live for broadcasting chapter meetings and Society events, thus enabling potential members to engage with STC.
Overview
We began using Facebook Live in 2017 to showcase our Chapter and Society activities. Our first live videos streamed a few presentations and vendors at Summit 2017, including our award for Most Improved Community of the Year! Then we showed bits of our program presentations throughout the year.
The videos can be seen on our Facebook page. We combined this effort with a new STC San Diego YouTube channel where we uploaded the Facebok Live videos along with virtual presentation recordings.
Facebook Live + YouTube
Facebook Live and YouTube are video platforms that are best to use in combination. The Facebook Live method allows Facebook followers to get notified and join in as it is happening or next time they are on Facebook.
Later, download the Facebook Live video as an MP4 and upload to YouTube for an easy way to use the same content to engage on a different platform. YouTube offers easy light editing options including an auto-stabilizer, trimming the rough edges at the beginning/end, and interactive cards.
Engage to Learn More
We are active on several platforms, but the best way to engage real-time is within our STC San Diego Slack workspace. Come join the conversation! Anyone interested in the field of Technical Communication or related fields is welcome to join.
STC Chapter Leaders can join the STC Community Programs Slack workspace to collaborate more about chapter planning and activities, including using Slack. Ping Sara Feldman or Ben Woelk for an invitation.
