The community member spotlight celebrates our local members. STC San Diego is a tight-knit community. We have members and volunteers that have served with us for many years over the course of their entire career, and we have people that stay with us temporarily. STC San Diego is a local chapter of the global organization.
Community Member Spotlight: In Remembrance
Ann Marie Winclair
January 13,1950-September 21,2019
Ann Marie was a longtime STC San Diego community member and a cancer survivor. She was also a poet, a lifetime learner and a close friend to many of us at STC San Diego.
Professionally, Ann Marie worked as a New York film industry set decorator, a technical illustrator, a graphic designer, and a professional writer/documentation specialist. Prior to technical communications she worked for 8 years on commercials, feature films, and documentaries. Some of her projects included: “Kramer vs. Kramer”, “All that Jazz”, “Just Tell me what you Want”, “The Wiz”, seven Woodie Allen productions and a pilot for “The Bloodhound Gang”.
Her hobbies included poetry and screenplay writing. Here is an excerpt from one of her recent pieces:

Community Member Spotlight: Past Volunteers
John Naples
John has volunteered with our chapter for the past several years. He has helped with employment listings and registration. Before joining the techcomm team he worked in marketing, writing product descriptions for a commercial music library’s catalog. Other background experience includes freelance web design, and scripting a marketing video. John enjoyed volunteering for STC because he wanted to increase his exposure to the technical writing environment and being around like-minded people. He was pursuing a technical writing certificate program to stay current with TechComm skills and strategies.
